Time in development: 3 weeks
Client: Every1 Cosmetics
Summary: Every1 Cosmetics has partnered with local universities for deaf and hard of hearing students in an effort to address the employment rate gap between individuals with hearing disabilities and individuals without hearing disabilities. This ILT was developed and designed as part of a series of trainings on effective communication. As an inclusive brand, Every1 Cosmetics wanted to ensure the work environment was comfortable for ALL of their employees. This series combines communication skills with sensitivity training and effective communication practice with diverse groups of colleagues.
Challenges: - As an inclusive brand, Every1 Cosmetics wants to make sure all of their employees feel comfortable in their working environment. Every1 Cosmetics recently partnered with local universities for deaf and hard of hearing students in response to the employment rate gap between individuals with hearing disabilities and individuals without hearing disabilities. It is important that current employees understand how to communicate effectively with deaf and hard of hearing colleagues as there will be an increase of employees with hearing disabilities hired by the company.
Solution: - Each year the company prepares a series of trainings centered around effective communication. These trainings usually blend aspects of sensitivity training with knowledge around or about a marginalized group. As an inclusive company who prides themselves on "putting diversity first" these trainings are updated and revisited each year. Every1 wanted rich conversations and meaningful learning about deaf and hard of hearing individuals
Results: - A survey was given to each participant in order to collect results. After 6 months a new survey will go out to deaf and hard of hearing employees to assess the frequency of observed effective communication best practices. Results are coming soon.
