Project Title : FWW Ordinance- Java Java House

FWW Ordinance Course: Java Java House

Tools in development: Articulate Rise 360 and Genially

Time in development: 3 weeks

Client: Java Java House CEO : John L. Pryor

Summary: The state of New York passed a new Ordinance that Retail Coffee workers needed to be informed about. In a proactive measure the CEO requested a short training for managers to decrease the possibility of non compliance related fines, complaints and bad publicity.

Managers would only have 20 minutes to take the course. The course could be delivered each year at their regional location during a professional training day for managers.  Many locations were experiencing a high turnover rate with managers. The course should be something they can complete independently if they need to. The managers need to understand this new ordinance and how to stay in compliance when unexpected scheduling conflicts occur.

Challenges: The course could only be 20 minutes long as managers did not have time in their training day for a longer course.  There was no LMS in place to import/upload/embed the course. A system had to be developed to track users final result (pass/fail). Many of the managers had unfavorable experiences with previous training, this one needed to be fresh and different.

After careful analysis it was determined that the tracking system could be done with a simple screen shot and email drop folder.  Due to various technology issues this was the best option for learners "submit" their final result.

Solution: An E-learning course with a scenario assessment and open navigation.  Delivered in a training room with access to technology.  Any Managers who were unable to take the course will have the course emailed to them as with new managers brought on throughout the year.

Results: During the development process It was important to keep the learner and their attitude about training in mind. It was important to me that this course be easy to understand, well aligned and meaningful for the learners.  Several learners stated it was important to feel like the course and its information were meaningful and “real” to them and their daily activities.

A survey was given to learners after the course. The survey asks learners about their learning experience and its relevance to their everyday interactions at work. 117 Managers completed the survey after the course.

73% of learners stated the course was easy.

92% of learners state the course was aesthetically pleasing.

29% of learners stated they needed to take the course more than 1 time to receive the desired outcome.

80% of learners felt the assessment was aligned well and realistic.
